Katie is an experienced manager of data collections for web, phone, and field studies.

Katie has over 20 years of experience working in survey research for government, academic, and nonprofit agencies with a focus on managing data collection for web, phone, and field studies. As a manager, Katie is adept at leveraging multiple areas of NORC’s broad expertise to deliver high-quality results to clients. She effectively plans and manages data collection projects from start to finish, problem solving when challenges arise so that goals are met on schedule and within budget. Developing, producing, and implementing field interviewer training programs is an area of particular interest and experience of hers. Katie enjoys managing and mentoring staff to align their skills and interests with professional development goals and project needs to make full use of staff resources by motivating people to do their best work for the benefit of projects. 

Katie’s experience at NORC includes a range of data collection projects. She has contributed to some of NORC’s largest field studies such as the General Social Survey (GSS), Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF), National Survey of Early Care and Education (NSECE), and the Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey (MCBS). Katie has served as a task leader on these projects, leading teams to revise complex questionnaire instruments, design and implement respondent outreach strategies, and train field interviewers via in-person, virtual, and hybrid modalities. She has led smaller efforts such as the San José Community Survey (SJCS) and the data collection component of New York’s Statewide Health Information Network Satisfaction Survey. Katie also led a Strategic Initiative to create a NORC-specific training on best practices for producing hybrid (remote self-administered, remote virtual, and in-person) interviewer training programs to help ensure that NORC continues to innovate and provide clients with the highest level of service.

Prior to NORC, Katie worked as a senior project coordinator for the Center on Outcomes Research and Education at NorthShore University HealthSystem with an emphasis on health-related quality of life and instrument validation. Katie contributed to all phases of research, including grant writing, participant recruitment and interviewing, data entry, and report writing.
