Mehmet is a Senior Data Scientist at NORC at the University of Chicago and an affiliate research scientist in the Computer Science program at the University of Florida. He has over 12 years of experience in data science and machine learning with a proven track record of applying statistical analysis, machine learning techniques, and Natural Language Processing to social science and education fields. His expertise spans a wide range of key areas including data science and analytics, predictive analytics, data mining, data integration and harmonization, automation of data workflows, multimodal machine learning, and data visualization.
Mehmet is an active member of the AI, Data Analytics & Science community, with over 30 peer-reviewed publications on topics such educational data mining, multimodal machine learning, human-computer interaction, and CS/AI education.
Prior to joining NORC, Mehmet worked as the project manager for the NSF AI Institute for Intelligent and Inclusive Technologies for Education. He has contributed to over 10 NSF projects in various capacities and currently holds the position of Co-Principal Investigator for an NSF project focused on integrating AI and NLP into middle school science education.
