Melissa is a senior research director in Health Care Programs. She is a Project Management Professional (PMP). She has expertise in project management, questionnaire design and testing, survey operations, and data analysis. She manages large, national, multi-mode household and firm surveys.
As an adaptable leader, Melissa has managed various healthcare, health insurance, and public opinion focused projects. Melissa uses project planning, management, and communication skills to ensure projects are well coordinated within NORC and with our clients and partners. Melissa is the project manager for the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP), the nation’s most comprehensive source of hospital care data. She manages communication, staffing, and records for this large effort. She has led large survey operations work such as on the Department of Defense (DoD) Employer Experiences Survey, National Health Service Corps substance use provider and facility surveys, California Reducing Disparities Project, and the American Health Values survey. She managed panel operations for the SHRM Voice of Work panel ensuring that disparate teams work together to deliver timely workplace data.
Prior to NORC, Melissa was a senior evaluator at Managed Care of North America, where she led evaluations of Medicaid patient satisfaction, access to dental care, and projects investigating Medicaid fraud, waste, and abuse. She also worked in customer experience research for State Farm designing and managing research projects resulting in data driven decision making across the business.
