Susan Paddock

Susan is generally responsible for NORC’s methods of design and analysis. As a member of NORC’s Executive Council, Susan also works to advance NORC’s corporate research and development enterprise. She leads a division of statisticians, data scientists, and methodologists who advance NORC’s capabilities through cross-functional collaboration, efficient statistical operations, fit-for-purpose methodological research and development, and targeted business development.
Susan is an executive sponsor of several initiatives to advance NORC’s capabilities in areas of data and human subjects protection, data science and artificial intelligence, quantitative evaluation methods, and sampling. She is an executive statistical advisor to several projects, including AP VoteCast, General Social Survey, Survey of Doctoral Recipients, and several health care evaluations.
Susan has over 20 years of experience as a leader in statistical methods innovation and application to topics of societal and policy importance, including evaluation of behavioral health interventions; health services research; health care quality; Medicare payment policy; public opinion research; public policy; and veterans’ health care. She has conducted and published statistical research on several topics, including Bayesian methods, causal inference, longitudinal analysis, missing data methods, multilevel modeling, and study design for qualitative and quantitative research. Susan has over 120 peer-reviewed publications and has served on several journal editorial boards and on committees for the American Statistical Association (ASA) and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
