Understanding the careers of science and technology doctorates keeps America competitive.
Sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health, the Survey of Doctorate Recipients (SDR) is the premier source of data on the career outcomes of the most highly trained scientists and engineers coming out of U.S. educational institutions. Data from the SDR shows a significant amount of career flexibility among U.S.-trained science, engineering, and health doctorate holders.
The SDR sample is selected from the Doctorate Records File (DRF), a record of all research doctorate recipients from U.S. universities since 1920. The DRF is updated annually based on data collected by the Survey of Earned Doctorates.
