Michelle Kitchman Strollo to Lead Health Care Programs Department at NORC at the University of Chicago
CHICAGO, Oct. 16, 2019 — Michelle Kitchman Strollo has been named department head and senior vice president of NORC’s Health Care Programs department. In her new role, Strollo will contribute to the organization’s strategy and operational management, while overseeing, developing, and growing NORC’s research activities in the health care programs sector.
Strollo brings over 20 years of experience building, running, and studying publicly financed health care programs. Since joining NORC in 2013, Strollo has expanded NORC’s health care work by fostering new subject areas in Medicaid policy, developing new data products to diversify its offerings, and extending the company’s reach with new clients in the federal, state, and commercial sectors.
“Michelle’s leadership and experience will position NORC to accelerate our existing project work, while continuing to provide innovative solutions and outstanding support to our core clients,” said Michael Davern, NORC’s EVP of Research. “She has made outstanding contributions to our health care work over her tenure, and we’re excited to have her lead one of our organization’s largest research departments.”
Strollo has held a range of positions in mission-driven organizations from nonprofit research organizations to public service roles in both the federal and DC governments. Over the course of her career, she has conducted research in access to care, health care spending, and quality of care, distilling complex data into clear and digestible information for policymakers and the public. In addition to her research background, she brings to her new position extensive experience managing large teams and leading major research and policy initiatives.
Strollo earned a master of health science degree from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University, and received a doctorate of public health from the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health.
Strollo assumed her new role on October 6.
