CHICAGO, January 14, 2025 — NORC at the University of Chicago is pleased to announce that David Dutwin, senior vice president of strategic initiatives and chief scientist of AmeriSpeak®, will step into the role of executive director and senior vice president of AmeriSpeak. AmeriSpeak is NORC’s premier multi-client, panel-based research platform. Dutwin, a nationally recognized survey methodologist and former president of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR), joined NORC and AmeriSpeak in 2019.
AmeriSpeak founder and current executive director J. Michael Dennis will transition to a new role as senior vice president of strategic initiatives, including the development of strategic client accounts and partnerships, and will serve as a senior advisor to AmeriSpeak with a focus on business and product development.
“AmeriSpeak is the highest response rate, highest quality probability panel in the U.S., and I could not be more excited to shepherd it into its second decade,” said Dutwin. “I am thrilled that Mike will continue to lend his expertise to NORC and AmeriSpeak well into the future.”
“The AmeriSpeak suite of products serves the nation’s need for unbiased, high-quality yet affordable public opinion insights that are fully representative of the American people. Under David’s leadership, AmeriSpeak will continue to evolve to best serve our clients’ needs,” said Dan Gaylin, president and CEO of NORC. “David and Mike have collaborated on the growth of AmeriSpeak over the past five years to great success, and I look forward to the future of the platform.”
This year also marks the 10th anniversary of AmeriSpeak and a decade of delivering scientifically rigorous, high-quality data that inform key decisions across industries, shape public policy, and contribute to social impact.
“I know David will lead AmeriSpeak with the same enthusiasm and expertise he has demonstrated in his five years as chief scientist,” said Dennis. “As I shift into an AmeriSpeak advisory role, I am keen to support David’s leadership and serve NORC in new ways.”
