NORC Team Wins 2019 JSM Data Expo in the Professional Category
CHICAGO, Aug. 15, 2019 — NORC at the University of Chicago is pleased to congratulate Quentin Brummet, Nola du Toit, Peter Herman, Evan Herring-Nathan, and Edward Mulrow for winning the 2019 Joint Statistical Meetings Data Expo award in the Professional category. Using American Community Survey data and the competition’s main dataset, New York City Housing and Vacancy Survey public use files, the team created a web application to examine the relationships between gentrification and housing characteristics in New York City. The Gentrification and Housing Characteristics in the NYCHVS tool will be featured in VizHub, NORC's Center for Excellence in data visualization and information design, later this fall.
