NORC’s Ashani Johnson-Turbes Elected President of the Society for Health Communication
CHICAGO, February 29, 2024 — NORC at the University of Chicago is proud to announce that Ashani Johnson-Turbes has been elected as president of the Society for Health Communication for the 2024 term.
Johnson-Turbes is a vice president in The Bridge at NORC and the director of NORC’s Center on Equity Research. Her expertise includes conducting inclusive and equitable research and rigorous measurement of communication messages, campaigns, and initiatives to promote health equity. She serves as an adjunct professor at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health.
As president of the Society for Health Communication, Johnson-Turbes will spearhead efforts to advance the science of health communication, working closely with the society’s steering committee, advisory board, and executive director. She will set strategic priorities, advance diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and foster growth within the organization. Johnson-Turbes previously served as the society’s vice president and currently chairs its steering committee.
Established in 2016, the Society for Health Communication is a member-driven organization dedicated to advancing the science and practice of health communication.
