NORC conducts climate studies for academic institutions and other organizations that want to take a clear and close look at their campus or workplace cultures. Our studies include assessments of the use of diversity and inclusion strategies, the prevalence and impact of harassment, and attitudes about important topics related to assault and misconduct. We gather feedback directly from students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders, offering reliable and actionable data that are often used to identify, develop, and implement future policy and programmatic initiatives.
Our services range from large-scale, cross-sectional and longitudinal data collection to individualized consulting on discrete issues that can be addressed by data analytics. We also consult with clients on evaluation methods and data collection design. NORC partnered with the American Economic Association (AEA) to conduct an in-depth climate study of its members, who come from academia, business, and government. The study provided AEA with a clearer understanding of the professional climate in the field of economics, particularly for women and members of underrepresented groups. We also conducted the MyVoice Survey with the University of California-Berkley to inform campus prevention and response efforts, tailor programs and services to campus needs, learn its protective and risk factors for sexual violence and sexual harassment, and obtain a prevalence rates baseline.
