Chet, who joined NORC in 2007, was the executive vice president and the director of the Economics, Justice & Society department until early 2020 when he stepped down from that role to become a consultant in the department. He is a senior executive experienced in designing and conducting large-scale, national household, establishment, and educational institution surveys; combining administrative data with survey data for policy-relevant research; and conducting survey research in areas such as interviewing methods, questionnaire design, and survey automation.
Before joining NORC, Chet was associated with the Census Bureau for more than 30 years, culminating in his tenure as Director of the Bureau’s Demographic Surveys Division. From 2005 to 2007, he was Vice President for Market Strategies Incorporated’s government, foundation, and academic research unit.
