Susan has more than 15 years of experience in statistical analysis and survey methodology, with expertise in data management, statistical programming, sampling, weighting, survey design, forecasting models, and data visualization.
Susan is the managing director of the Statistics team for AmeriSpeak, NORC’s multi-client panel-based research platform. She is the lead statistician on a variety of client studies, providing expertise in sample design, sample selection, weighting, variance estimation, technical reporting, client communication, and process efficiency. She has led many studies involving complex sampling and weighting plans, including TrueNorth, an innovative NORC method combining non-probability and probability samples.
Before joining NORC, Susan served as a senior statistician at the Florida Legislature’s Office of Economic and Demographic Research, where she was primarily responsible for developing triannual enrollment, expenditure, and revenue forecasts for a variety of state health and tax programs. Prior to the FL Legislature, Susan was a statistician at UVa’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service, where her primary responsibility was the statistical data analysis and programming required to produce the state’s official annual population estimates.
Susan began her career at the United States Census Bureau, where she gained experience in data analysis, survey frame evaluation, sample design, forms design, and data collection procedure development. Here she also gained a deep knowledge of federal and state data sources, such as the American Community Survey and the Current Population Survey, which she has enhanced throughout her career.
