About the California Health Insurance Survey

The California Health Insurance Survey seeks to understand how Californians are experiencing changes in their health insurance and how they are navigating this process.  

Who is conducting the survey?

NORC at the University of Chicago (NORC) on behalf of Covered California, the state’s health benefit exchange, is conducting a monthly survey to better understand Californian’s experiences with their health insurance.

What information does the survey collect?

This survey supports Covered California’s mission to help more Californians get health coverage. The questions asked in the survey are designed to help Covered California identify ways to improve how they are communicating with and reaching out to Californians about enrolling in Covered California.

You were selected from a pool of California residents recently went through the Medi-Cal (California’s Medicaid program) renewal process. NORC selected participants to try to have a representative sample of people with this experience.

No. Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. Also, if you choose to participate, you may choose not to answer any question that you do not wish to answer and you can end your participation at any time.

This survey should be completed only by the person to whom it was addressed.

Your answers will be combined with answers from other respondents and then analyzed. Survey results are put into summary reports on general patterns and trends across groups of respondents.

Only a few people who work on the survey will ever see any information that could identify you and this information is protected by laws and procedures that NORC and Covered California follow strictly.

No. Your information is kept private and confidential as required by federal and California law. Your answers are only used for research needed to help Covered California enroll consumers into healthcare coverage.
